The Fashion of Lady Elina & The Queens 35ers

Lady Elina, Fashion Icon and Liege of the the Queens 35ers talks some of the 2020 OWL League season fashion highlights with the Daily Horoscope

Pedro Salazar (PS): Lady Elina! So you’re the Lady of the OWL playoff contender Queens 35ers and are running to be the next OWL Prime Minister! But of course long time fans know you as a fashion designer - even a fashion mogul.

Lady Elina (LE): Why can’t a girl have her cake and eat it too? Yes, before taking up the mantle of Lady I was and am the head of Atelier Mystique, the now-global fashion and makeup brand. That was how I first made my mark in the world, creating stunning runway looks as well as cute and comfortable ready to wear items for witches and wizards at every price point. Still, I do love the challenge of having myself and my team design uniforms for Ludomancy - you have to marry each magician’s unique personality with the functionality required for play. I must say, I think we’ve done a pretty good job~

PS: I believe we use Atelier Mystique for the live Omni-Casts here at the Horoscope. So you’ve brought some of your favorite outfits here today. Who and what are we looking at right now?

LE: This is Shin Zhivago (not the 5-star Shin from Ravens), one of our Rogue Magicians! As a magician who wields the power of the night he asked if we could make something that had a charming, thief-like vibe. The vest and pants are a modern-take on Victorian era explorer outfits, but using lighter colours to give it less of a drab, antagonistic look and something a little more debonair.

PS: I. LOVE. THAT. CAPE!

LE: Thank you! That was a personal touch. I thought it needed a little something to bridge the gap between devilish thief and composed magician, so I took some inspiration from famed illusionists such as The Magnificent Twisted Fate.

PS: And look at these two! Suave on and off the field!

LE: Absolutely! These are some illusionary sketches from Yuon, an up and coming designer that’s working along us at Atelier Mystique. I adore the designs because they’re perfectly suited to Ludomancy. They have a delightful flair in the flow of each cape, with the coat-tails varied depending on magician preference. So as you can see, Christina’s gone for something a little feminine, while Eun-Ji has a rather dashing split coat-tail. Of course both garments have been enchanted for maximum breathability, resistance to weather conditions, and can take a rather nasty beating.

PS: And WOW! Is that Christina Pekkala in the same outfit she wore in the underdog victory over Kyoto?!?

LE: One and the same! I love this one because it really shows off Christina’s more ethereal aspects, and gives her the star power that comes part and parcel with being an Astral Druid. It’s a little ball gown-like, and I have asked her if she can move all that well in it, but I suppose when you’re able to call on astral spirits to allow you to float things like practical movement aren’t really necessary.

PS: Beautiful, playful, radiant - all of it. Truly a masterpiece.

PS: So I also hear you’ve brought a special sneak preview of a limited series Queens 35ers playoff uniform as well?

LE: I certainly have! Connor was a recent acquisition for the team, but as you can see he’s sporting our new playoff uniforms. They’re a little less light-hearted and airy than our main season uniforms, something to show that the 35ers are heading into the postseason with the full intent of digging in deep and getting a win. We’ve eschewed some of the flightier frills for practical pants and an almost grungy Dracula look, although Connor still manages to make it look absolutely dashing.

PS: Wow, Elegant and intimidating. Something tells shorts and stockings just might be the look this fall. I look forward to seeing the 35ers in the postseason.

Stay tuned for postseason coverage!
