As you're all aware, our online megagame, The OWL League, was meant to kick off this Saturday. We've decided to postpone the megagame to a tentative date of July 11th. When we decided to run this megagame, we wanted it to be a welcome reprieve from staying at home and social distancing. However, as troubling events continue to unfold here in the US, we believe that it would be an inappropriate time to continue on, and a distraction from issues that demand both our and your time and attention.Â
One of the hopes for our megagame is that in taking part, players would be able to share an ongoing experience together, as a group, and also with friends, family, and spectators online. To fully play and enjoy this megagame in this moment would be to distract from important and ongoing conversations about Black lives and police brutality. We won't do that. We do want to try and provide an opportunity for you all to experience the game, and hope that postponing will enable this.Â
We have been actively watching, listening to, and participating in anti-racist efforts and I'd urge folks to also do the same -- donate if you can, and read & consume anti-racist media. This link provides a well-curated and updated list of ways you can help and learn:Â
